NSW: Man in court over Ice importation
One of the men accused of importing Australia's biggest batch of the designer drug
Ice has been refused bail in a Sydney court.
30-year-old THANH PHONG NGUYEN did not apply for bail in Sydney's Central Local Court.
Magistrate ALLAN MOORE, formally refused him bail and adjourned the matter until January
8 when he will face court with his two co-accused.
NGUYEN is charged with one count of attempting to possess a prohibited import.
Police and customs officials announced yesterday they'd seized 79 kilograms of Ice
with an estimated street value of $15.8 million.
They also seized 184 kilograms of heroin valued at $180 million after a raid of shipping
containers in Sydney.
Ice is crystal methamphetamine and is estimated to be 10 times more powerful than traditional
